This Swedish Streetwear Brand Brought Nature And Fashion Together In One Snapback Hat

To me, the discovery of new, innovative styles is definitely something that has always drawn me to fashion. Growing up I would spend hours of the day reading magazines, only to tear up my favorite pages, turning them into a mood board- even though my parents were totally against sticking things on our freshly painted walls. Not much has changed now that I am an editor. Handmade mood boards turned into Pinterest boards and physical magazines became online, multi-topic websites-which I absolutely love.

So, why am I taking you on a trip down memory lane? Well, you need to understand how much I have always been interested in having an eye out for emerging designers. I am inspired by what's happening in the fashion world, even if I keep choosing gender-neutral streetwear styles that will definitely pass the test of time. I think one of the most amazing things about being a self-proclaimed urban fashion enthusiast is to bring awareness to on-the-rise talent and lend support to small brands that have a lot to offer. So, here I am, highlighting a fantastic brand that has me excited right now.

Custom snapback hats with unique details

Let's talk about Rawkly, the independent Swedish label that managed to bring nature and fashion together in one snapback hat for men & women. This brand takes a whole new, super fresh, and modern approach to classic snapback hats, adding earth-inspired details to an already popular fashion accessory. Aiming to appeal to the uniqueness of each individual person, the designers behind Rawkly came up with the idea of a 6-panel snapback hat with 3d embroidered logo AND the wooden brim.

Rawkly fashion

The surface of the brim is covered with wooden veneers that offer a truly unique and raw look to every design. So what's the inspiration behind the innovative idea of the wooden snapback hat? The designers wanted to highlight the beauty of the Swedish forests. Sweden is covered with more than 69% forest land so, what's a better way to showcase the beauty of nature than to incorporate it into your designs? Every tree is unique, the same applies to every brim. The Attitude fo Sweden Rawkly collection is the perfect balance between the old-time classic skater look and fresh, unique 2020 streetwear we all love to wear.

Join the Kickstarted Campaign

At this point you might be as invested in Rawkly's vision as I am but, as most indie brands they need some help raising funds for their upcoming collections. Both the Raw Attitude and Attitude of Sweden collections will only be available during the Kickstarted project. The Upcoming Rawkly collection (based on the brand name obviously) is the main goal of the crowdfunding campaign starting on January 15, 2021. Some of their future goals include wooden temple sunglasses and (my personal favorite) the Rawky bracelet featuring leather and real wood. @rawklyfashion posts the latest updates, behind the scenes AND giveaways.

Streetwear Meets High Fashion In Däsnine's Latest Release

luxury mini handbag from the US Dasnine

As a firm urban style lover, Däsnine has been on my radar a lot this year. This upscale German-American label is exactly where streetwear meets high fashion, with huge doses of minimalism. The brand's elevated aesthetic caught my attention from the moment I laid eyes on their iconic blood orange messenger bag on Instagram back in 2019-you all know how much I adore this color.

Undoubtedly I am a big fan of premium high street brands, especially if they carry styles with the artist's unique, creative touch. Let's just say that Däsnine is definitely a name I will be adding to my holiday wish list this Christmas.

Welcoming the Berlyn's Mini

Diving deep into the world of handbags with the sole purpose of finding the perfect bag to add to your collection can sometimes feel like an impossible task, especially in such a saturated market. Non the less, if you are as obsessed as I am with extra special pieces that actually catch everyone's eye, I have the perfect suggestion for you. Däsnine just released  Berlyn's mini, you can call it the latest luxury drop- I call it a piece of art. The signature 3in x 3in bag feels pleasingly original while still looking minimal. Plus buying from an indie brand means you won't get frustrated every time another person carries the same style just a few meters away.

This bag might not be on the affordable side but, it all makes sense if you consider the design creativity and the carving-stamping procedure the genuine Cowhide Leather has to go through. Bonus point, it is 100% made in the US. Overall, Däsnine clothing and accessories are bound to fit effortlessly into your wardrobe, especially if you love adding statement details to your everyday outfits.

Whether you are currently on the hunt for the perfect Christmas gift for yourself or simply love to bookmark items for a future shopping spree, you can be sure that everything from this brand has something unique to offer to your fashion collection.

Now, more than ever, our super busy lives demand clothing that is not only practical but comfortable as well. Giving up your personal style is definitely not the case. If you are on the hunt for new, comfy outfit combinations that still leave you plenty of space to be creative, Athleisure might just be the answer you sick. If you follow my life, both here and on Instagram, you probably already know how much I genuinely love getting away with wearing the comfiest, gender-neutral clothes outside in my day-to-day life. There is something very liberating about seeing people who continuously try to blur the lines between performance wear and casual streetwear.

What's the meaning of athleisure?

The ultimate blend of ready-to-wear styles with activewear that naturally creates many cool and unique outfit combos. Fashion is constantly adapting to the rapid changes in our lifestyle. People are now, more than ever, refusing to follow most types of “dress codes.” On the contrary, they focus on self-expression and individuality.

Even though there is no strict set of rules, there are always some tips & tricks on how to style the perfect  Athleisure looks with minimum effort. Try layering your sports bras and hoodies with leather coats and a pair of oversized joggers. Matching sports sets look gorgeous under maxi coats with neutral colors, especially if you add your go-to sneakers to the mix.

I personally swear by vintage, unisex jackets at the moment mainly because I can throw them on with a pair of thick leggings and my trusted Vans sneakers.

Mixing tailored pieces, like a basic blazer, with oversized hoodies and ladylike bags is a huge trend right now.

Just because you are wrapped in your favorite athletic wear, doesn't mean you can't add accessories. Baseball caps, chain necklaces, and earrings, winter-appropriate beanies are only a few great items you can add to your Athleisure look.

Comfort meets Luxury with this emerging fashion brand

EXL Studion fashion brand California

New street style labels are popping up left and right but ELX Studio actually has something to offer- a fresh take on gender-neutral, premium quality apparel that focuses on inclusivity. The Best part? The quantities will be limited, meaning that you will be able to have unique pieces -if you act fast. More and more people are interested in timeless, investment pieces to save in their capsule wardrobe for years to come. In other words, quality definitely beats quantity, especially when it comes to street wear.

It's all about originality, self- love and personal expression.

"I want to encourage my community to appreciate what they’ve been blessed with." said the fashion designer and founder of ELX Studio."Clothes don’t make us. But they can sure take confidence to the next level. For the underrepresented and the nonconformists, I’m here for you." she continued. The vision behind the brand is very clear. It's time to get rid of all the unhealthy and highly unrealistic beauty standards once and for all. Body positivity and free self-expression through fashion should be normalized by each and every person.

Want to get a taste? @elxstudio is about to host a pre-launch giveaway (US and Canada). Pre-ordering will be available next week so you will be able to get your hands on the first batch of the new styles. Sign up to get all the latest updates.

Why You Should Rock Custom-Made Streetwear This Winter

custom made streetwear

After shopping from the same old multinational corporations that always seem to be at the top of the fashion scene, we all feel the need to explore other options and try out something new. The mainstream fashion industry is definitely a crowded one and in recent years more and more fast fashion brands are popping up left and right. Even though I do understand people's need to get their hands on the latest, trendiest outfits without breaking the bank, the humanitarian and environmental consequences are way too severe to ignore.

custom made streetwear

So, can we actually stay away from fast fashion? No, unfortunately, even though there are plenty of resources, we cannot 100% be certain about the ethics of all of our favorite brands. I have been an advocate for second-hand shopping for quite some time now. Even though it takes a bit of time and energy, finding a hidden gem between the racks can be such a joy. As you can see from my Instagram page, I often try to alter my thrift finds to better compliment my personal style. And that is exactly the subject of this article.

Custom clothing that goes beyond the "basics". Indie brands offering streetwear styles that are blessed with the artist's unique touch are the new craze. Underground fashion labels are known for their creative flow, innovative ideas, and raw artistic skills. 8smilez is a newly founded brand based in New York with a very clear message. His limited edition styles are here for those who want to differentiate from the social norms and reflect their personality.

custom made streetwear

In this consumer-driven era of seasonal trends, custom made styles are a long-term investment. You will always have in mind that this particular piece of clothing was made just for the few who were quick to hit the order button. There is something great about limited edition screen-prints or hand-painted designs. From made to order Dickies logo work pants to hoodies and truckers 8smilez offers many streetwear styles you definitely won't be able to find anywhere else.

Why you should always wear what truly makes you happy

Champion Greece, Champion outfit
As easy as it sounds to wear what truly makes us happy there are plenty of factors that can influence someone's opinion. With the rise of social media and the constant visual stimulations, they offer we all find ourselves lost and confused about what we actually like -or need-. How much time do we spend trying to convince ourselves that a particular piece of clothing fits better than it looks or that we weren't actually influenced by someone else to like something we truly don't? No one can deny it, there is an overall mainstream idea of how a person should dress ( and look ) judging by their age, marital status, hobbies, and field of work. Maybe 2020 is the perfect time for us to focus on how fashion makes us feel rather than blindly following trends and "musts".

The art of shopping less

As we change and grow we all have a different perspective on what fashion is and what it represents. All the things we once thought we needed may now make us cringe or be considered "out" of fashion. There are some basic but key questions to ask ourselves before hitting the order button. Will this specific item fill a gap in our closet? Will we get much use out of it? Does the brand follow ethical techniques to create this piece of clothing we are about to wear? No matter your personal style these questions should always be a priority.

Moreover avoiding impulse buys at all costs will have a positive impact on our finances and closet space. How many times have you found yourself looking at clothes on the hunger - with tags still on- only to second guess your prior decisions? Having high-quality basics that can be worn countless times for years and years does not automatically mean designer items. Not everyone has the means or the will to spend that much money on one style, nonetheless adding necessary-only fashion to our wardrobe will inevitably help us create an admirable capsule collection, very beneficial in the long run no matter the price point.

Comfy casual styles with statement colors

Take this pair of  Dockers white platform sneakers for example that I wear pretty much every week religiously since last November even though I have quite a few alternatives. Why? Because they make me feel great. You have seen me styling more than a few looks around them on my blog and Instagram, they are simple and easy to wear with each and every outfit.

As soon as I unboxed my Buffalo CHAI sneakers on the stories I received so many mixed reactions. People loved how comfy and statements they were while others hated the chunky look they had. I feel so good when I wear them and I find myself reaching for them many times a month. That's what it really means to buy something that makes your heart happy as soon as you put it on as opposed to ordering something because someone else's opinion - and influence - managed to change your perception.  that's how I feel fashion should be. A way to make us happy and more confident.

So why my style has changed so drastically over the last 5 years?

If you are an avid reader - and follower- of meets style and @konna.antoniadou you probably already know what I am referring to. For years I have been trying to convince myself that the clothes I was wearing were a reflection of my personality, false. Even though I really loved my midi dresses and white boho tops reality was my personal taste was heavily influenced by the society's opinion of what a 20-year-old should look and act like. I never actually felt comfortable squeezed into my tight dresses and over the knee boots but honestly, I didn't know any other way to be. I had a certain idea of how I should look all day every day. Even now, freshly turned 26, I get comments here and there from people who claim that I should be dressing more "age appropriately", meaning not athletic I suppose. Do we need to pay attention to what others have to say about our appearance and life choices? NO. That's why you should wear fashion that makes you happy.

Are micro-influencers the future of influencer marketing?

micro-influencer marketing

One of the questions I get asked the most from 2015 is "how did you score this collaboration?". I have been working with brands like American Eagle, Buffalo London, and Sienna Jones on campaigns for the last five years. Even when I had around 3K followers I was able to have some pretty decent proposals (always within my niche). In 2018 I signed a contract with Savage x Fenty to be a part of their A/W 18 campaign and have been working with them ever since. Spartoo helps me create monthly content for my audience since 2019. Why? Because micro-influencers are really the future of influencer marketing and, more and more brands focus their marketing campaigns solely on them (well, us).

micro-influencer marketing

Who are the micro-influencers?

Micro-influencers are people with 1.000 - 100.000 followers with a passion for their specific niche. There are dozens of different types of social media influencers on Instagram, youtube, Facebook (and now Tik Tok) that are considered experts and tend to be trusted by thousands of people. Most of us are familiar with beauty, fashion, and travel influencers but you can find individuals in many more fields like gaming, food, fitness to name a few.

These smaller, more focused influencers are significantly more connected to their audience, mainly because they haven't obtained the "celebrity" status yet. In other words, people are more willing to trust the honest opinion of the boy/girl next door, the one they can relate to the most. Certainly smaller audiences mean much more personal, hands-on interactions.

Working closely with micro-influencers (from brands perspective) not only puts your products in front of the right audience but also saves you from the extra expenses of hiring a celebrity endorser.

What are the benefits of working with micro-influencers?

Number one and most important, higher engagement. Micro-influencers have the ability to interact with their audience daily by answering comments, exchange likes, and maybe create personal bonds via dms. Quick and easy interactions between micro-influencers and their audience mean that the connection is created a lot quicker compared to a celebrity influencer that overall seems more distant. This type of exposure can not only increase sales but also drive much-needed attention to your business.

Rather than investing 1.000$ on one collaboration with a content creator with around 100K followers brands nowadays mostly choose to work with many micro-influencers to ensure more exposure and better results.

From a consumer's point of view, it makes perfect sense. If I am looking to spend a few days in Paris the first thing I'll do is ask the people around me -the ones that I trust and value their opinion- for hotel and restaurant recommendations. I will double-check the recommendations on Yelp and Google to look for positive and negative reviews. Overall people's opinions do play a huge part in making a decision.

Micro-influencers have a very specific niche, they come in all shapes and sizes, that's what makes them relatable, approachable and at the end of the day a great marketing "tool " for one's business. Every brand has a target audience in mind. Maybe they are interested in promoting their F/W21 collection to women between the ages of 25-35 years of age who are interested in high-quality workwear and are mainly based in Europe. With micro-influencer marketing is easy to find the one who can cater to your exact needs.

micro-influencer marketing

Why micro-influencers are so popular today?

To put it in a few words they are way more relatable and worthy of their following's trust than celebrities and mega influencers. Speaking from a personal perspective, having a small audience makes it easier to share your daily struggles, opinions, and thoughts outside the product promotions and daily outfit updates. Many people look for someone who faces the same difficulties, tries to overcome the same issues, and is considered overall as a "friend" rather than an unknown person online with a beautiful Instagram feed.

Most of us look at a celebrity endorsement and roll our eyes. We are more than certain that this celebrity isn't actually using this product, it's a quick way to make hundreds of dollars. When it comes to micro-influencers every mistake can be fatal to their image. If micro-influencers lose the trust of their audience by promoting a product that doesn't work the comeback will be severe.

What brands research before offering a collaboration contract?

Most customers (and many influencers) think brands contact online creators based on their photography skills and the numbers of likes and followers. You might have the most skilled photographer in the business, have the perfect looks, and still won't be able to have the collabs of your dreams. Why? Because when it comes to micro-influencer marketing the age/ location/ demographics and hobbies of your followers are way more important than the likes and followers count ( we all know how easy it really is to purchase 10k followers ).

The most effective thing an influencer can do while promoting a product is to tell a visual story through imagery. We should be staying true to our brand and personal aesthetic and provide our audience with what they are really interested in. Audiences can very easily notice if an individual is promoting a product they don't really believe in. In conclusion, brands are most interested in the quality of your followers rather than the quantity.

Bra : Rebook via Fashion World / Trousers: NA-KD / Bag : GUESS

Hello everyone! I hope spring is treating you great so far. I have been enjoying the warm weather since the beginning of March and even though I am still looking forward to unpacking my favorite summer weather pieces I couldn't be more satisfied with the temperature.

As you may be aware over the last year and a half I tend to invest more in athleticwear than any other style and frankly, I couldn't be happier with my decision. As much as I love wearing a sports bra, my favorite pair of dad sneakers or my trusted oversized sweater I most often lean" toward Athleisure.

streetwear style inspiration

What is Athleisure?

Athleisure is a fabricated style of clothing that usually works during certain athletic activities but can not be limited to just that. Comfort is the number one key element to a successful Athleisure look. Sports bras, yoga pants, leggings were typically worn by men and women during their daily workouts, nowadays they can be styled in a variety of different ways out of the gym. Many pieces than look like "athleticwear" are considered fashionable.

Athleisure is definitely a fashion movement rather than just a simple passing trend and designers quickly caught up. Fashion houses like Burberry vintage check sports bra and Balenciaga with their sporty leggings created complete collections around the idea of athleisure. 2020 allowed sportswear to be more versatile, comfy, and fashionable.

Easy Athleisure outfit ideas

There are a lot of different ways to achieve the famous athletic-chic style, mine is usually based on my favorite sports bras. I always try to build my outfit around my tops since they do have the most eye-catching patterns and colors (like the one shown above). Another fun fact? Since the top part is fitted and naturally shows off your figure you can easily play around with more buggy-comfy trousers and shorts and still look on point. Here are some other favorite ways of styling.

How to Style The Athleisure Trend :

1 Sports Bra + tailored trousers + blazer + mini backpack + loafer shoes - platform sneakers

2 Cropped cotton top + cyclist shorts + puffy jacket +  leather fanny pack + chunky sneakers

3 Cropped hoodie + oversized shirt + backpack + converse shoes

4 Boyfriend blazer  + cropped hoodie - light wash shorts + mini leather handbag + sneakers
