I finally tried Korean Skin Care Products for acne prone skin

Korean skincare review for acne
The all-natural skincare routine

I have been battling against acne since 2016 and even though there have been more than a few times I thought I finally got rid of this constant struggle it always manages to come back over and over again. I have seen and heard so many stories of severe acne problems that people face for years and years. I can't wrap my mind around why acne is still such a big taboo these days. There are plenty of reasons why people get acne. For me, it was a combination of hormonal imbalances along with a very high in dairy diet. It took me more than a while to finally realize the cause of my problem, basically ignored all the signals, and by the time I did saw the problem for what it truly was, my face had more than a few scars and dark spots.

The biggest problem I had to face was not the breakouts, it was the scaring that didn't fade or go away. I learned that one of the main causes of skin scaring is lack of Vitamin E and C which are also responsible for healing wounds and scars. My diet is now very much improved and even though I still don't get as many vitamins as I should the results are very noticeable. I previously mentioned the ways I cope with my new breakouts on a previous post, the benefits of tea tree oil, rose water, etc and to this day I swear by them. Tea tree oil was a savior this summer along with my determination not to wear makeup on a daily basis (it's just SO hot here in Greece) and I can feel the damage on my skin!

My new daily skincare routine, based on Korean products, is exactly what my skin needed from the beginning. I have been using them every day for a week now and the results are mindblowing. I did a ton of research before placing my order so I could find the right ingredients for my acne-prone skin. Scroll down for a list to learn more.

1. Cleanser
Fresh Green Tea Foam Cleanser 150ml / $14,31

Every morning as soon as I wake up and every night before bed I clean my face with a foam cleanser. I do prefer this type of cleanser rather than the gel ones, my skin feels significantly cleaner with just a small amount of product. I recently switched from my La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Face Wash to Nature Republic Green Tea simply cause even though the previous product did a great job I wasn't really seeing any difference in my skin texture. The Green Tea cleanser leaves my skin super smooth and moisturized and unlike many other foam cleansers, it doesn't break me out. But why this particular product is so good for acne-prone skin?

The ingredients: Green tea water, seawater, soybean oil, licorice extract, Centella Asiatica extract, chamomile flower extract, Portulaca Oleracea extract.

Green tea can treat hormonal acne by reducing the levels of potent sex hormones. While green tea may not be a miracle solution, it's definitely a big step towards clear skin. Most of the polyphenols in green tea are catechins. Catechins, which are antioxidants by nature, have also been shown to function as anti-inflammatory and anticancer agents.

2. Toner (morning)
Snail Bee High Content Skin 150ml / $17

Let's be honest, toners weren't a part of my everyday skincare routine till a year ago. I have learned the importance of using an all-natural toner by actually seeing the results these products can have on your skin if you use them religiously. The ingredients in this particular toner were recommended to me by many experts and friends that face the same skin problems for way longer than I have. The reason is no other than their ability to treat the damaged areas of my face. Why is this toner a miracle for acne scars?

The Ingredients: Snail Secretion Filtrate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Human Ogliopeptide-1, Bee Venom, Diospyros Kaki Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Plantago Asiatica Extract, Laminaria Digitata Extract, Ulmus Campetris (Elm) Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Athaea Rosea Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Betaine, Bacillus Ferment, Panthenol, Beta-Glucan, Allantoin, Azelaic Acid, Adenosine

This toner contains Snail secretion, Bee Venom (among others) that are practically the Holy Grail of a scar-free skin. Snail Secretion Filtrate works on scarring by softening and dissolving existing scar lesions and damaged tissues, as well as rebuilding collagen and elastin back up to levels that existed before the scars took effect. Bee Venom is anaphylactic, so it can temporarily relax your facial muscles, break down cell membranes, and improve circulation, which can create a tighter and smoother complexion. It can also plump out and firm your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
